He believes in love.
Big songs. Big feelings. Big entrances. The kind of love that comes with a key change, a confetti cannon and absolutely no sense of self-awareness.
He believes love is probably somewhere else. Somewhere warmer. Somewhere louder. Somewhere with better lighting.
Edith Piaf. Strobe lights. Strangers. Perfect nights. Bad decisions. The one that got away. The one that might still be out there.
He believes in loving everyone to bits and throwing it all in the air for the world to see.
Most of all, he believes in looking the truth right in the eye and running away.
Because love should be extraordinary, shouldn’t it?
It should be cinematic. Transcendent. Life-changing.
It should feel like dancing in the moonlight with the whole world falling away.
But what if it isn’t?
What if it’s been somewhere much closer all along?
And somewhere there’s a big red phone that won’t stop ringing.
From tiny gestures scrawled on sticky notes to 1,001 dancefloors, from the songs that made us believe in a thing called love to the quiet moments in between, Big Love is a brand new solo show about belief, desire, avoidance and the people we choose to give it all up for in the end.
Part party, part confession, part love letter to all of life’s best bits, Big Love is a funny, generous and quietly devastating new piece of fringe theatre about chasing extraordinary moments, the people we love to bits, and finally having to answer a call that won’t go away.
And that’s a lot of love to cram into one little theatre in Kentish Town.
Written and directed by David Brady and produced by the critically-acclaimed, award-winning team behind Feel, At Last, Lately and Flashbang, Big Love crash-lands into the Lion & Unicorn Theatre for a two-week run as part of the Here | For Season of new work this October.

Samuel is a London based actor and writer, who grew up on the Northern beaches of Sydney. He trained at GSA and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. Credits whilst training include Rodolpho in A View From The Bridge, Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Orestes in The Oresteia.
Since graduating, Samuel has performed as Oberon in The Young Shakespeare Company’s national tour of A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Dylan in the Offie nominated Every Great Man at the Cockpit Theatre.
On screen, he has had roles in the feature film Hunted From Within and the comedy series Sessions.
Aside from acting, Samuel is a season ticket holder at Nottingham Forest Football Club and can play the guitar and the didgeridoo, though not at the same time sadly.
Samuel is excited to be working with Proforca again after performing in Being Brave earlier this year and again in its transfer to The Old Joint Stock in Birmingham.

David is an award-winning writer, director and Artistic Director from Coventry, based in London. He is also the Artistic Director of Proforca Theatre Company and the Lion & Unicorn Theatre in Kentish Town.
His awards include Off West End “Offie” nominations for Lately and Flashbang, OffComm nominations for At Last and Feel More, and Standing Ovation nominations for AAAAA and Best Director for The Shatter Box, as well as Best New Writing Award with Alexander Knott for At Last in 2025.
David is a regular press and podcast contributor and was awarded a special commendation for services to Pub Theatre in 2021 by London Pub Theatres Magazine.
For Proforca Theatre Company, credits include If I Go (2016), Saucy Jack & The Space Vixens (2016), The Importance of Being Earnest (2017), Reading Gaol (2017-18), Feel (2018-19), Feel More (2018-2020), At Last (2019), AAAAA / FiveA (2021), Volcano (2022), Lately (2021 & 2023), Flashbang (2022 and UK Tour 2026), The Shatter Box (2023/4) and If The Surface Tension Breaks (2025). Proforca’s new show Big Love makes its debut in London in October 2026.
In addition to his work at the Lion & Unicorn Theatre, David has directed work at YORAC, Theatre N16, The King’s Head Theatre, Hertford Theatre, Upstairs at the Western, The Space, The Old Joint Stock Theatre Birmingham, The Albany Theatre Coventry, Greenwich Theatre, Laurels Whitley Bay and the Alma Theatre Bristol.
Proforca’s work has also been performed at Hull Truck, The Anvil Basingstoke, Mercury Theatre Colchester and the Belgrade Theatre Coventry.
David’s work as a writer, as James Lewis, has been published by Playdead Press, including At Last, Lately and Flashbang. And If The Surface Tension Breaks will be performed by Norwich-based Drama Mavericks and receive its amateur premiere in Summer 2026, with Flashbang to follow in early 2027.
